A tattoo artist at Sol Tribe on Broadway finished a piece that took seven and a half hours to complete, on Saturday night.
His client angrily “nitpicked a couple of details that could have been fixed,” quickly got dressed and left without paying an $1,100 bill.
Porscha Butler, who works at Sol Tribe said, “It is a heavy hit to an artist that has put that much time and effort and love into something and be victimized like that,” .
The victim in this case is Al Avila, a tattoo artist from California, paying his expenses to visit Denver.
Butler said, “He’s been doing this a long time. He’s very good at what he does. It was a phenomenal tattoo,” .
Butler said, “Typically, you build a really nice relationship with someone over that amount of time. This guy wasn’t very talkative, nor very friendly,. Typically our clients are amazing. This is not a typical experience for us.”
According to his ID, Chiaroscuro stands 6’1 and weighs 210lbs. They didn’t attempt to physically stop the guy. Instead, Butler called the police who took a report. But Butler’s hoping a Facebook post, which as of this report has 1,700 shares, will alert the local tattoo community to the guy wearing evidence of a theft on his sleeve.
“We are tight-knit. We do support each other. And to at least make sure this guy never gets tattooed again in Denver.”
