A familiar voice weighed in (Monday) 30th January on President Donald Trump’s executive order strictly curbing immigration from select countries.
Barack Obama’s spokesperson Kevin Lewis tweeted that former US president was “heartened by the level of engagement taking place in communities around the country.”
A statement was released regarding Barack Obama’s view of the situation; Lewis said “Obama fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their religion”.
Usually, former presidents mostly refrain from criticizing the actions of the standing administration.
Obama ceded power to Trump only 10 days ago, though he pledged to stay engaged in politics as a citizen.
Donald Trump continued to stand firm on his decision, he tweeted that “the chaos ensued at airports over the last few day confusions reigned in the wake of the newly implemented order was instead caused by a Delta computer outage and the “tears of Senator Schumer,” who has been a vocal opponent of President Trump.
Lawmakers in Colorado also voiced their opinions, Democratic Senator Michael Benett said “Immigrants EO will harm the national security, undermine values and mark a significant departure from the U.S. history of welcoming those who are in need.
Rp. Senator Cory Gardner said “he supports the strengthening our screening processes and securing our border,” but a travel ban went too far.
House Speaker Paul Ryan supported the decision and President was right to make sure to do everything possible to exactly know who are entering the United States.
