“Ladies Only” for Wonder Woman Screening

The Alamo Drafthouse announced on Facebook that they are going to have a woman-only screening of Wonder Woman in Colorado, releasing this weekend.

The Company said that the screening were created in an effort to create a unique event that mirrored the all women island where Wonder Woman lives on.

"Apologies, gentlemen, but we are embracing our girl power and saying 'No Guys Allowed' for one special night," Alamo's website read.

But, it appears both screenings in the Denver downtown have sod out and there is still an overwhelming demand from female fans on the theater’s Facebook page.

The company not only promised a women only show, but also the entire theater staff that night would be women.

Chelsea Donnelly: Late to the party, hoping you add more! Either way, thanks for doing this and supporting Planned Parenthood and the ACLU!!

Tina Edwards: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE schedule another one of these!!!!

The company recently announced similar screening in Austin, Texas and New York City. While some gave a head nod to the practice, other discriminated it and said it was “sexist.”

While there is support on Facebook for the screenings, there has been backlash from men and women.

Amy Kennedy: What a ridiculously sexist event. Imagine if you held a "male-only" event? You have lost me as a customer.

Some people have criticized the move by saying, if there was a men-only screening for a Superman movie, things would have been totally different.

Oscar Twiddledorf: I was excited to have a location open closer to my home, but after hearing this, I will continue to go to the competition. My oh my, with all the screaming women do about men and unfairness. Yeah - this is the answer. Don't want any of those men here making fun of our empowerment session.

Whatever may be the opinion of the people, tickets have already been booked, the world is waiting for a first superhero movie featuring a woman in the lead role.
