The wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and composer Palash Muchhal was the center of attention until it was unexpectedly delayed just hours before the ceremony on Sunday evening in Sangli, Smriti's hometown. Friday: The wedding celebrations kicked off in Sangli with sangeet and haldi taking place at a resort on Saturday. Clips showed the couple performing together on stage.

Sunday: Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal were meant to tie the knot in Sangli, her hometown. The entire Indian women’s cricket team was there, along with the groom’s family and friends, including his sister, singer Palak Muchhal.

Sunday afternoon: It was reported that the wedding had been postponed when Smriti’s father was admitted to the hospital after his health worsened at the venue.

Sunday evening: Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, spoke to the press in Sangli, stating, “Mr Shrinivasa Mandana was having breakfast when he became unwell. We called an ambulance to take him to the hospital. He is being monitored. Smriti is very close to her father, so she decided to postpone the wedding until he gets better. The groom’s family returned to Mumbai from Sangli, where he was said to be hospitalized in Goregaon due to stress and tiredness.”

Sunday night: In a chat with Hindustan Times, Palash’s mother confirmed that the groom was taken to the hospital because of stress, as he ‘cried for 4 hours’ after the wedding was delayed. “Palash has a strong bond with Smriti’s father… They are even closer than Smriti and Palash are with each other. When he got sick, Palash, before Smriti, chose that they should wait for the wedding ceremonies until he recovers,” stated Palash's mother, Amita Muchhal.

Monday morning: Palash’s sister, Palak Muchhal, shared a message on Instagram Stories regarding the wedding being postponed. “Due to Smriti's dad's health issues, Smriti and Palash's wedding has been delayed. Please respect the family's privacy during this difficult time," she wrote.

Monday evening: Smriti Mandhana took down all photos and videos from her engagement and pre-wedding parties on her Instagram. Her teammates, including close friend Jemimah Rodrigues, also deleted videos from the events.

So far, neither Smriti nor Palash has talked about the wedding delay outside of the remarks made by her manager and his sister. There is no word on when the wedding will happen. Smriti's father is still being monitored at a hospital in Sangli.
